How do you Treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) with hypnosis?
We utilize two approaches to the treatment of relieving IBS symptoms.
The first and primary method is the proven IBS treatment method of Dr. Olafur Palsson, Associate Professor of Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It utilizes suggestion and metaphorical hypnosis. Research shows that about 4 out of 5 clients benefit from treatment. The second method is that of hypnoanalysis which includes regression therapy and desensitization.

How do I know with IBS treatment is right for me?
During pre-visit contact with our practice, you will get an idea of which way your therapist might be inclined to treat your IBS with.

At the first session, you will go through a thorough history which may include symptom experience, stressors, IBS triggers, onset, and pre-onset history. You will then discuss with your therapist and come to a clear decision as to which process would be more effective.

How many sessions are there for IBS treatment? How frequently will we meet?
The IBS treatment protocol is 8 sessions in total. After the initial session, subsequent appointments are ideally every 2 weeks.

Regression therapy typically ranges from 8 to 10 sessions on a weekly basis. If this is a viable option to reduce IBS symptoms then the therapist will provide you with an educated estimate of the number of sessions.
