Frequently Asked Questions about Our
Practice
1. What is your therapeutic approach?
I use hypnotherapy to help people find the emotional causes of
current issues of concern. Once we find those problems
together, we then desensitize them, gain insight, and help make
cognitive changes.
2. What do you specialize in? Why?
I specialize in the treatment of Chronic Illness including
Tinnitus, as well as Anxiety, Fears, and Phobias. Chronic
illnesses include Fibromyalgia, Environmental Illness, Chronic
Fatigue Syndrome, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I feel that
focusing on a few key issues in my practice allows me to be
more effective and experienced, which gives you the best
probability for improvement.
3. How long, and how frequent are therapy
sessions?
Our initial session is approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours in
length, where we will discuss why you have come, your goals,
expectations, and personal case history. You will also have the
chance to experience some trance and focusing techniques at the
end of the session. Subsequent sessions are approximately 90
minutes in length. Frequency is determined through pre-session
information that I gather from you as well as our first session
together.
4. How long will I be in therapy?
Length of therapy varies, and depends on the reason why you
have come to see me. In general, the number of sessions is
related to the issue and its severity. Most clients utilize 8
to 12 sessions. Although the number is flexible and may vary. I
will openly discuss with you from the beginning what I estimate
our time together to be.
5. Who do you work with?
I work with all ages - as long as it is in my area of
specialization. Otherwise I will refer you to a qualified
therapist or discuss your options.
6. Where are you located?
I am located in Larchmont, New York, a suburb of New York City.
My office is conveniently across from the Larchmont Train
Station for easy access by train or by car.
7. Do you do therapy over the phone?
On occasion, if there are extenuating circumstances, I will
agree to do therapy via telephone sessions. We would discuss if
phone session would be productive and/or effective before
deciding to proceed.
8. Do you accept insurance?
No. I do not accept insurance, although I am considered a
'reimbursable' therapist in the state of New York. This means
that you may be able to receive a percentage of my fee as an
'out-of-network' provider. I will provide you with all the
necessary information, so you can explore this possibility with
your healthcare provider if you so choose before we meet.
9. What are your hours?
Daily Monday through Friday with some evening hours. Please
email me for specifics, as my hours change. 3 Day
Intensive typically roll over into the weekend.
10. How do I schedule an appointment?
Please email me at jennifer@theharwoodgroupny.com
to schedule an appointment or call my office, (914)
315-1823.
Due to my schedule, please anticipate approximately a 2 week
wait for all appointments. Thank you.
